The Life and Literature of Abdul Rahman Shukri

I am an Irish student studying for a Bachelors Degree in Arabic and Literature at Al-Madinah International Islamic Univeristy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I am in my second year of study. For me, my main interest is in Arabic Literature. I was inspired by the story of Abdul Rahman Shukri and I am amazed that so few of his poems have been translated. In total, Shukri wrote over 450 poems in his seven poetry books and no more than twenty poems have been translated and mostly in parts. My initial desire is to just begin to translate some of Shukris poems while also learning more about his poetry, his style, etc. I would like to also maybe include a blog where I offer some explanation and critique of his poetry and feel this will be beneficial for me as a student in getting down my ideas and thoughts through this medium. For now, I am content to build some content slowly and see where it goes.
